Chateau Batailley Pauillac 2009

Chateau Batailley Pauillac 2009

Wine Enthusiast - 93/100
Wine Spectator - 91/100

From a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and equal parts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this could be one of the best values in Pauillac from the 2009 vintage.  Filled with fresh blackberry, earth, cedar, tobacco and earth, soft tannins, round textures and a rich, delicious earthy ripe cassis and spice finish.

Batailley is well-known as one of the oldest Bordeaux wine estates. The property took its name due to a famous military battle that took place in 1452, during the hundred year war. The 60 hectare Bordeaux wine vineyard of Chateau Batailley has a terroir of gravel and sandy soils. The vineyard is planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. One average, the vines are 40 years of age.
