Kilikanoon Attunga Shiraz 2006

Kilikanoon Attunga Shiraz 2006

Robert Parker - 98/100
Wine Spectator - 94/100

The flagship of Kilikanoon is the 2006 Attunga 1865 Shiraz.  Thick and rich, it coats the glass with glycerin.  A brooding bouquet of wood smoke, game, truffle, espresso, leather, blueberry and blackberry leads to a massive masculine, full-bore Shiraz with dense, spiced fruit with a splendid integration of oak, tannin and acidity.  It merits a decade of cellaring and will reward those with discipline with 25 years of pleasurable drinking from 2016 to 2041.

Kilikanoon is located in the heart of South Australia's picturesque Clare Valley. Winemaker Kevin Mitchell comes from a long tradition of grape growing in the Clare Valley, where grapes have been grown and wine made since the 1850s. Produced from some of the oldest living vines anywhere in the world, the vineyard's 900 individual surviving plants from the early 1860s tell the most ancient terroir story. This rich and rare parcel of Shiraz continues to produce fruit of opulence and grace. Made only in vintages of exceptional fruit quality and limited to very small quantities, Attunga demonstrates classic elegance.
